The majority of my quilting work is done using pantographs with Pro-Stitcher software.  A pantograph is an all-over, edge-to-edge, repetitive design.  I have quite a variety of patterns available in addition to what is shown below, and I am happy to purchase additional patterns if you are interested in something specific.

Custom quilting is also available, depending on the specifics of your quilt and based on our discussions.

I am usually able to accommodate quick deadlines, but of course, lead time is appreciated.

TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL LONGARM QUILTING

  • The backing fabric and batting each need to be at least 3” larger on all four sides (6” extra in length and 6” extra in width).

  • Polyester batting cannot be used with quilting machines.

  • Clip/remove any loose threads.  I will inspect the back of your quilt each time I roll it on the quilting machine for any random dark threads that will show through on lighter fabrics, but please clip beginning and ending threads from piecing as well as any obvious darker threads that have frayed in your seam allowances.

  • Make sure that all seams are completely sewn.

  • Press individual seam allowances in the same direction; in other words, don’t switch directions mid-seam.  This creates a lump that can be difficult to quilt around and might affect the finished look of your quilt.

  • Press seams that attach borders to your quilt towards the borders.

  • If your backing fabric requires piecing, use a 1/2" seam allowance and press the seam open.

  • Make sure that the quilt borders don’t "flare" (meaning that the border is longer than the actual measurement of the quilt).  It is difficult to ease in the extra fabric when quilting.

  • Baste any pieced borders to ensure that seams do not separate at the edges.
